Today, a man received the sentence of life imprisonment at a local Hyderabad court after he killed his wife for dowry. He also needs to pay a fine of Rs 10,000. Meanwhile, his mother and a his friend, also named in the case, were set free.
Reetu, 29 years old, was an air hostess by profession and Sachin ran en electronic store. They got married in the year 2013. At the time of the wedding, Reetu’s family gave Rs 16 lakh as per the demands of Sachin and his family. This included Rs 5 lakh in cash, gold ornaments costing Rs 6 lakhs and some other expenses.
However, the couple did not share a good bond with each other. They had a son a year later, but Sushil suspected that Reetu was cheating on him. Therefore, he even demanded for a DNA test of their son. Furthermore, Sachin’s business suffered a loss so he wanted another Rs 10 lakhs as dowry from Reetu. Hence, he began harassing her over it.
Quarrel starting with TV remote ends in murder of wife
One day in 2015, Sachin went to bar with his friend Kothari Rajesh Kumar to have drinks. They then came to Sachin’s home with biryani, late at around 10:30 or 11 pm. Reetu was already watching a sitcom, but Sachin wanted to watch a cricket match.
When Sachin hit Reetu, it resulted in an injury to her forehead. Then, according to Rakesh’s statement, she also refused to serve them the food. While they argued, Reetu allegedly spat at Sachin, who stopped Rakesh from interfering. He also asked him to leave as it was a ‘personal matter’.
In Sachin’s confession, he admitted that Reetu felt insulted and went to the bedroom, where he used a pillow to smother Reetu to death.
After that, he called the parents and lied that she was ill. By the time her parents arrived and took her to the hospital, Reetu passed away.
After the murder, Reetu’s mother filed a case with Uppal police. The police thus registered a case against Sachin, his father Ramesh, mother Sima, brother Nithin, and Sachin’s friend Kumar.
Reetu’s parents fought very hard for her justice until now.
