Tea worker refuses to sell cigarette – two customers stab him

Police arrested two men for stabbing a tea shop worker after he refused to give them a cigarette. The worker's condition is stable as of now.

Police arrested two men after they stabbed a tea shop worker after he refused to give them a cigarette. The worker is presently at a hospital and his condition appears to be stable as of now.


Ezaz works at the tea shop in Kalindi Kunj, Delhi, with his brother-in-law Aamir. On October 9, Abdul Hannan (30 years old) came to the shop and bought a cigarette. Some time later, Ezaz closed the shop, after which Abdul Hannan came again, this time with Mohammad Sakib Khan, a 19-year-old. As Ezaz had closed the shop, he refused to reopen it to give them a cigarette. Furious with him, Abdul Hannan and Khan began thrashing both Ezaz and Aamir.

Then, Khan stabbed Ezaz in the abdomen and injured his forearm with a blade-cutter. AAt the time, police were checking vehicles as per their routine at a checkpost when they heard the noise. They then reached the tea shop and found him injured. RP Meena, DCP of Southeast Delhi, reported that they arrested both the accused and registered a case the the Shaheen Bagh police station.. They also moved Ezaz to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

On Friday, when police were at a check post during a routine checking of vehicles, they heard a quarrel and rushed to the spot, where they found Ezaz lying with stab injuries.

They arrested one of the accused and shifted the injured to AIIMS Trauma Centre, said a senior police officer, adding that later, they also arrested the other accused. Both of them admitted that they did indeed get angry at Ezaz for not giving a cigarette.
