Mumbai power outage due to fault in MSETCL facilities

Tata Power reported that at 10:10 AM, two substations tripped at the same time in MSETCL, resulting in a massive power outage in Mumbai.

On Monday, Tata Power reported that at 10:10 AM, two substations tripped at the same time in MSETCL, resulting in a massive power outage in Mumbai. The tripped happened at Kalwa and Kharghar substations. Officials said that due to the interruption and break down of power supply, trains also came to a halt due to grid failure.


Amid the power outage, the stock exchange and the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport were functional.

CM Uddhav Thackeray ordered for an immediate probe for finding the cause of sudden outspreaded power cut in the metropolitan region.    

During the failure, CM Thackeray ordered BMC to take note of the situation of the hospitals about proper supply of diesel to maintain uninterrupted power supply facilities for the patients.

Western Railways later said that the restoration of power was complete in certain areas by 12:20 pm. Tata Power tweeted about the work of power restoration in Mumbai successfully.

Maharashtra power minister Nitin Raut also talked about detailed enquiry about the power outage.
