Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh strongly disapproved of the attempts to convert the historic Gurdwara into mosque in Pakistan. However, the Pakistan government does not seem to understand the history and sentiments of the gurdwara.

The Gurdwara Shahidi Asthan is a historical shrine in Lahore. In fact, it was built at the spot where Bhai Taru Singh received a fatal injury.

The external affairs ministry said that a strong protest is lodged against this matter with Pakistan high commission. However, Pakistan said that this gurdwara was the place of Masjid Shahid Ganj and they are trying an attempt to convert it into mosque.

Gurdwara is sacred to the Sikh community. Therefore, this incident is very sensitive in nature for India.

Moreover, India says that Pakistan needs to take care of the welfare of its minorities. It should also protect the religious rights and cultural heritage.
