Flipkart will hire 70,000 people, as well as more delivery partners, and sign up over 50,000 kiranas before the Big Billion Days sale begins in October. Every year, the sale results in a huge surge on the e-commerce platform as India nears festivals.
This year, the pandemic will likely boost sales even more. Hence, Flipkart, Amazon and Reliance are all preparing to get a step ahead in their e-market. Besides the usual fields of electronics or clothing, people have also begun buying groceries as they try to stay home as much as possible.
Flipkart benefits during pandemic, prepares for Big Billion Days
The Big Billion Days sale on Flipkart lasts around 4-5 days in October before Diwali. Hence, the company will soon be in great need of delivery partners, executives, pickers, packers and sorters. Apart from that, the platform plans on signing up with over 50,000 kiranas – or the local general stores – so they can deliver to every corner of the country possible. Additionally, doing so will probably create some indirect jobs too.
Flipkart is one of the few major platforms that luckily did not have layoffs as the pandemic actually ended up benefiting the platform. In fact, they also launched Flipkart Wholesale this month, and it seems like the platform is on a successful path.
