West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee felicitated 25 Covid Warriors on the 74th Independence Day event on Red Road. She later met Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar at Raj Bhavan on Saturday in the morning.
Indian Express reported that the CM Mamata Banerjee attended a small Independence Day programme on Red Road of 15 minutes in total duration. There, the West Bengal CM did not speak but felicitated 25 Covid Warriors.
CM and Governor had a brief discussion on the present political condition and development but either of them did not make the meeting of discussion public. A senior official informed that the Governor invited CM Banerjee for a tea-meeting at Raj Bhavan in the evening. However, the CM could not come due to unknown reasons. Therefore, the meeting will now be in the morning this Saturday.
Also, Banerjee tweeted: “Happy Independence Day to all my brothers and sisters. We salute all those who sacrificed their lives to make the dream of a ‘free nation’ come true. Our freedom was hard-earned, and we must do all it takes to preserve the basic principles on which this country was founded”.
