On Sunday in Kerala, police arrested 41 persons including IT professionals for sharing child porn on social media platforms. Kerala police arrested them during an investigation – Operation P Hunt 20.2, a cyberdome -based operation.


Under this operation, the Countering Child Sexual Exploitation team so far seized 285 devices, like laptops, mobile phones, hard disks and similar gadgets. This happened during raids across 362 locations in the state. Police also identified the social media groups created for sharing the offensive content.

According to the state police, the highest number of arrests came from Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram and from Malappuram. The arrested may get a fine of nearly Rs 10 lakhs and stay in jail for up to 5 years.

Police links crime with child trafficking

Police also found chats on WhatsApp that indicate there may be connections between some of the arrested members and child trafficking groups.

Meanwhile, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children gave information to the police of about 400 people in Kerala who were in the WhatsApp groups that the arrested shared child porn on.

Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi congratulated the efforts of Cyberdome Kerala and success to put a stop to this crime chain against child abuse.

Police requested the public to co-operate with them to trace any further illegal actions against minors. This will be in order to ensure the safety and security of every child as is the responsibility of everyone in the society. Β
